Your License To Be A Hero
You’re ready to drive. And with that responsibility comes the chance to do something you may never have thought of: saving the life of someone else.
When you get your temporary license, driver’s license or even your state identification card, you will be asked at the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles if you want to be an organ, eye and tissue donor. It’s the first adult decision of your life. And an important decision that gives you the power to save the lives of up to eight other people and heal up to 50 more when you die. If you’re an adult, the decision is legally binding and cannot be changed by anyone but you. If you’re under 18, your parent or legal guardian has the option to affirm or alter your decision. So it’s important to discuss your donation wishes with your family, so they may help carry out your wishes, should the unthinkable occur.
