How to Donate
Anyone can give the Gift of Life! It is important to remember that individuals should not rule themselves out as potential donors. Medical criteria for donation vary and medical professionals will be able to determine exactly what is suitable for donation at the time of death.
The Ohio Donor Registry was established by the Ohio State General Assembly in 2002 to ensure that an individual's wish to be a donor is known and carried out. Making the commitment to be an organ and tissue donor is a simple process.
If you want to make an advance directive to become a donor at the time of your death:
- Register your decision in the Ohio Donor Registry
- by registering online today. (You will need a valid Ohio driver license or state identification card.)
- or by filling out and mailing in a Donor Registry Enrollment Form
- or by saying "yes" when you visit the BMV office to receive or renew your driver license or state identification card
- Tell your family about your decision. It is important that they know your wishes at the time of your death.
